What sounds come to mind when you think of the West Coast? The wind whistling through the ancient cedars? The cry of an eagle as it soars overhead? The unique tinkle of the ocean as it rushes in over the pebbles on the beach?
Aptly named, Carmanah manages to incorporate all these sounds and more in their music. The first time I heard Carmanah, I knew I was listening to something special. I slowly closed my eyes, leaned back in my chair, and I was transported.
Based in Victoria, Carmanah is a merry band of four very talented singers, musicians, and storytellers including Pat, Steve, Marek, and led by the sweet sound of lead vocalist Laura Mina. They like to combine folk, funk, and rock with a dash of reggae. Sounds like the West Coast to me!
Carmanah recently returned from their successful first ever cross Canada tour. A big round of applause! That's great news for you, because it means they are now available for booking to play at your event or venue!
I am so pleased to feature Carmanah on Tunes For Tuesday. Check out their website, listen to some great tunes, and follow Carmanah on social media to find out where they are playing next. Better yet, buy their music so you can enjoy Carmanah every day! Guaranteed they will quickly become one of your favourites.
PS. I almost forgot to mention the fifth member of the band - Spud. Carmanah would not be complete without him!
