Dew Unto Others

One woman's donation drive for breast cancer survivors in Mexico.

Women are expected from a young age to be nurturers, often at the expense of their own health. I believe that cancer, particularly breast cancer, is sending women the message that they must learn to nurture themselves first.

My friend, Anne Dewhirst, is a breast cancer survivor.

Appreciating that she needs to nurture herself, Anne is planning an extended vacation in sunny La Penita, Mexico! But, the nurturer in Anne is still there. She can't just relax on the beach without doing for others first. That's Anne!

Tunes For Tuesday - Andrea Smith

The irrepressible Andrea Smith.

With three albums of original music under her belt, and a total of eight, count 'em, eight Vancouver Island Music Award nominations, it is safe to say that Andrea Smith knows a thing or two about writing music!

You will fall in love with this bluesy West Coast jazz singer. There is just something so warm and familiar about her voice.

Tunes for Tuesday - Brodie Dawson

Soulful blues folks singer, Brodie Dawson.

With a voice that is rich and full of soul, it's no surprise that Brodie Dawson was named Vocalist of the Year at the 2014 Vancouver Island Music Awards and has been nominated for Best Live Act two years in a row!

Brodie will captivate you from the first note. Her eclectic mix of soulful folk blues, blended with gospel funk, pop, and country, is a reflection of the musical emersion she experienced growing up combined with her own musical journey.

Ideas For Your West Coast Mini Vacation. Part Two.

Beached whale by the beach.

Don't have time for a vacation, but you really need a break? It could be as close as your nearest beach!

Sometimes life keeps us so busy doesn't it? Nose to the grindstone, checking off the to do list each day, only to find out that the list grew back the next day! What?! We forget to look up, take a deep breath, and notice that there is life outside those four walls!

I took a deep breath this weekend and decided I would give myself a mini vacation on Sunday. Okay, I confess. Not really. I was working on my own to do list. But it did involve the beach!  :)

Hallelujah! Peace On Earth

On this Remembrance Day, my wish is for peace.

What do you do to commemorate Rememberance Day? For myself, I take the time to remember my brother, Henry. He served our country and left us way too soon.

With our world in turmoil as we evolve as a planet, I thought it would be as timely as ever to pray for peace. God bless!

And what better way than with our own KD Lang's moving rendition of Hallelujah.
